Slade Trammell, pianist, M.M., has been heard in concert across the U.S. and in Europe, including local performances with the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and Roane Choral Society, and appearances in Salzburg, Paris, and Toronto. He studied under pianists Earl Wild, Ruth Slenczynska, and David Brunell. Also a conductor, with many years of study under Serge Fournier, he is a graduate in conducting (with distinction in score reading) of the European American Musical Alliance Summer Institute in Paris. Since 2012, Mr. Trammell has served as pianist for Roane Choral Society. He also serves on faculty at Hiwasee College.

Young British rising-star pianist Amiri Harewood made his concerto debut as a teenager, and his sweeping programme features pieces from around the world. There are Russian preludes from Rachmaninov, including the famous Alla Marcia, and from Shostakovich including a stately sarabande and glistening fugue. From America, George Walker’s fifth sonata from 2003 condenses the form into a dense five-minute burst. From Nigeria, Joshua Uzoigwe’s rhythmic piece is inspired by a traditional dance to a river deity. Finally, Granados’s seven waltzes capture the essence of Spanish dance in dazzling, rich colours.

Not just summer, sun, and sunshine, but flamenco, rhythm, and guitar sounds: Spain's culture has so many treasures to offer that this year's country focus is turning our attention to Southern Europe and celebrating music and dance with a Spanish Night. In this concert project, presented exclusively at the Rheingau Music Festival, Linus Roth and Anabel Montesinos present well-known works by Spanish composers. And, of course, one thing cannot be missing from a Spanish Night: flamenco. It will be diverse and passionate when Rocio Osuna and Juan Carlos Sánchez bring this cultural heritage to the stage, lending the Rheingau a southern European flair.

The acclaimed Moroccan-Hungarian pianist makes a welcome return to Wigmore Hall with a programme representing a fusion of cultures, with works by Spanish composers interspersing pieces by the Egyptian Gamal Abdel-Rahim (1924-88), the Lebanese Abdelhak Masri (1950-2007), the Cypriot-American Anis Fuleihan (1900-70) and the Moroccan Nabil Benabdeljalil (born 1972).

The two-day residency centers around gems of Spanish classical music, including de Sarasate’s fiery Carmen Fantasy, and rarely-heard piano trios.
