To flee their homeland, devastated by drought, famine and war, two boys make their way to the coast. They hope to set out to sea aboard a smuggler's boat and head north. Between fragile beauty and stories of migration, the bodies tell of exile, hope and encounter. Inspired by choreographer Muriel Merlin's childhood in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni in French Guiana, Écume invites us on a poetic and socially engaged crossing. Based on the children's picture book by Sandrine Kao.

The Touloulou carries within it one of the driving forces of carnival: the reversal of roles. Masked and spectacular, the woman who embodies it becomes, through her dance, her costume, her boldness and her power to choose, one of the queens of the festivities. It is a freedom that also demands courage: stepping into the game, taking risks, and sometimes provoking unrest.
