On March 8, the Miami Symphony Orchestra presents American Promise at the Knight Concert Hall, inspired by the moving work of composer Karen LeFrak, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Glimpses Of A Living Culture 2024

For this program led by Michael Francis, courage wears many faces. In Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, a quick-thinking heroine stays alive night after night by spinning stories of the Arabian Nights, and you can hear her voice in the violin — pulling you into the adventures of Sinbad the Sailor, Aladdin and more. One of today’s most exciting young pianists, Jeneba Kanneh-Mason makes her TFO debut in Piano Concerto in One Movement, a work shaped by the fearless spirit of its trailblazing composer, Florence Price. Opening the evening, Karen LeFrak’s American Promise sets a tone of reflection and hope. Jeneba Kanneh-Mason building a distinctive artistic voice of her own while inspiring a new generation.
