L'Ensemble Cordance celebrates chamber music: voice and piano sublimate the lied and mélodie, intimate poetry and emotion. By inventing the mélodie with orchestra, Berlioz gave the genre an entirely different scope, and he was followed by composers such as Chausson and Ravel. The expressive possibilities of the genre inspired the ensemble Cordance to transcribe for voice and string quartet a number of mélodies by Chausson and several lieder by Brahms, featured in the program of this concert.
