Lyricist

Adapted from Nikolai Erdman's 1928 play The Suicide, the musical reimagines the material for a contemporary audience. Semyon, an unemployed dreamer under Stalin's rule, imagines a better life as a tuba player but comes to believe a spectacular exit from life may be his only ticket to fame and glory. Aristarch, a revolutionary firebrand with less than pure motives, sees an opportunity in Semyon's potential demise and seizes it to spark a rebellion against the Communist regime.
