Based on creator Odile Gakire Katese’s collected letters from survivors and perpetrators of Rwanda’s 1994 genocide, The Book of Life leads audiences on a remarkable journey of pain, grief, acceptance, and rebirth. In this deeply moving performance about finding hope in the aftermath of tragedy, the playwright and cultural entrepreneur’s story reverberates through spoken word and the rhythms of Ingoma Nshya, Rwanda’s first-ever female drumming ensemble founded by Katese. In a world racked with hatred and struggle, The Book of Life celebrates healing after trauma and the resilience of the human spirit.

A young woman is driven to the unthinkable by her desperate desire to have a child. Set in contemporary London, this radical production of Lorca’s classic tragedy builds with elemental force to a staggering, shocking, climax.

In the new year, with YERMA by Simon Stone after Federico García Lorca, the Coal Mine celebrates several major benchmarks. First produced at The Young Vic in 2016, starring Billie Piper, Stone’s inaugural production went on to become one of the UK's most acclaimed and awarded productions of the decade, with Piper winning all six available Best Actress awards, including the coveted Laurence Olivier Award. The production also won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Revival. It then made its way across the pond in 2018, playing a sold out run at The Park Avenue Armory to more unanimous praise.
