Recognized by Le Monde for his “personality that expresses itself naturally in fantasy, in the fresh and enchanting sense of the term,” this astounding French accordionist makes his Princeton University Concerts debut with a bold, tango-inspired program that proves his instrument’s rightful place in the classical world. At just 24, Ould became the first accordionist nominated as a Newly Discovered Talent at the Victoires de la Musique Classique awards, and he is redefining what the accordion can do—blending Baroque elegance, Romantic passion, and cutting-edge contemporary works (some featuring electronics) written just for him, including by Princeton University graduate student composers. With an instrument he calls “halfway between a typewriter and an extraterrestrial device,” Ould delivers a performance that’s anything but ordinary — don’t miss it.

Two inventive singers unite at the Scottish Rite Temple to close the 10th Anniversary of Festival of Song: Lauren Snouffer and Rolando Villazón. Cameron Harper is an active clarinetist and private teacher in the Pittsburgh area, currently completing graduate studies at Carnegie Mellon University. Recent performances include Copland’s Symphony No. 3, Brahms’s Symphony No. 1, and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5 with the CMU Philharmonic, and he can be heard on BCM&D Records recordings of the Temple University Wind Symphony. While in Philadelphia, Cameron studied clarinet repair with renowned clarinet technician Mark Jacobi and served as music librarian for the Boyer College of Music & Dance and the Temple University Repertory Orchestra. He recently completed the Musical Entrepreneurship & Leadership Development program with New Groove Music Studio and has given presentations about the clarinet to schools across the Greater Pittsburgh area.
