The hr-Symphony Orchestra's chamber concert series returns to Bad Nauheim, this time with a truly exceptional quintet. When trumpet, trombone, horn, and tuba come together, you can expect a rich, magnificent sound and a varied and captivating program. The first half of the evening will surprise with vibrant and lively pieces that evoke memories of faraway places, bygone eras, and sunny days. The second half will then focus entirely on the Christmas season. Frankfurt Radio Brass was founded in 2023 by five members of the orchestra with the desire to present the audience not only with orchestral repertoire but also with the broad and brilliant spectrum of brass music at the highest level. From Baroque and Romantic to contemporary, there's something for everyone, as the musicians of Frankfurt Radio Brass are committed to presenting every genre of music with the same passion, musicality, and technical perfection that listeners have come to expect from the hr-Symphony Orchestra. The joy of making music together is always paramount and is visible and palpable to everyone. The five solo wind players are among the leading musicians of their generation and have won numerous prizes at national and international competitions.

Now in its second iteration, the group presents a recital of brass works and transcriptions in this performance, Ascension, featuring works by Bozza, Bach and more!

I am excited to announce a new program for our February 28 organ concert! I have the pleasure of performing alongside the great trombonist, Mark Hetzler, who last performed with me in the successful Organ and Diapason Brass concert that closed our last season. A former member of the Empire Brass, and now professor at UW-Madison, Mark has toured the world as both a soloist and ensemble member, playing a wide range of repertoire. With a program featuring a New Orleans-style version of When the Saints Go Marching In, classical arrangements of Bach and Mendelssohn, and original compositions by Mark himself, I have no doubt that the audience is going to be moved and thrilled. The richness of music from the Americas is on full display in this captivating program. Argentinian composer Alberto Ginastera’s extraordinary string quartet combines rhythmic ferocity with South American folk music. Uruguayan native Enrique Crespo’s delightful brass quintet takes the listener on a sonic tour of the Americas, including the sounds of New Orleans, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, and Mexico. Cuban jazz musician Paquito D’Rivera is a master at combining jazz and classical traditions. His lively wind quintet is a tribute to the sounds of the Caribbean, Venezuela, and American jazz.
