Cabaret is a musical by John Kander and Fred Ebb, set in 1930s Berlin during the rise of the Nazi regime. The story centers around an English writer, Cliff Bradshaw, who becomes involved with the mysterious and free-spirited performer Sally Bowles at the Kit Kat Klub, a nightclub filled with decadence and dark political undertones. As their relationship develops, the looming political unrest begins to threaten their lives and the carefree world around them.

Pacifica Spindrift Players

Composer John Kander tells a great love story in "Cabaret": Nightclub singer Sally Bowles and writer Clifford Bradshaw meet on New Year's Eve 1929 in Berlin. For a while, the newly in love couple's happiness seems perfect – despite their differing ideas about the future and their precarious circumstances. Sally lives for the day and sings at the famous "Kit Kat Klub" at night. Jealous Cliff can't deal with this. He is working on his second novel, but is in the midst of a creative crisis. Moreover, the mood of the "Golden Twenties" is increasingly changing, even in the liberal metropolis of Berlin. Fascism and anti-Semitism are poisoning society. Even the apolitical landlady, Fräulein Schneider, can no longer close her eyes to the rise of National Socialism.

Theater Lübeck

Step into the seductive and dangerous world of the Kit Kat Klub, where life is beautiful… but only inside. As the roaring twenties give way to the ominous rise of Nazism in 1930’s Berlin, this groundbreaking musical invites you to cast your troubles aside and witness a dazzling, decadent, and ultimately chilling story of love, art, and survival. Featuring iconic songs like “Willkommen,” “Maybe This Time,” and the showstopping “Cabaret,” this powerful and provocative masterpiece will leave you breathless.
