Give Me Your Stars explores the profound and diverse beauty of music inspired by the heavens, human connection, and the places we call home. At its heart is Lucy Walker’s eponymous new work, written for VOCES8, which captures the delicate balance between celestial wonder and the deep, personal connections that make us human.

The programme spans centuries of choral music, from the luminous polyphony of Tomás Luis de Victoria’s Regina caeli to timeless jazz standards. Along the way, we encounter the reflective sentiments of Eric Whitacre’s All Seems Beautiful to Me and Ola Gjeilo’s Ubi caritas, folk traditions in Danny Boy and Michael McGlynn’s Dúlamán, and evocative tales of cities and starlight in April in Paris and New York, New York.

Grammy Award-winning organist Paul Jacobs is helping The “King of Instruments” retake its rightful place in classical music. Jacobs and the organ itself are featured throughout this program including Steven Paulus’s Grand Concerto with its “spicy harmonies and shining lyricism." The organ is dramatically featured as an integral part of Saint-Saens’ third symphony, notably the dramatic conclusion.

Byron Smith and Clark Joseph lead the New England Symphonic Ensemble, chorus, and soloists in an evening of Gospel music. Jeanne Wohlgamuth conducts treble choir in works by Stephen Paulus, Kim Andre Arnesen, Paul Basler, and more. Ryan Holder conducts the world premiere of excerpts from Anders Edenroth’s Lionteeth, and Cvetozar Vutev conducts Imant Raminsh’s Missa Brevis.

Celebrate the end of an era as Ronald Jenkins takes the podium for his last concert as Chorus Director of the Columbus Symphony Chorus. For 41 years, Mr. Jenkins built the all-volunteer chorus to become a mainstay of Columbus Symphony programming. The closing concert of the Masterworks season will feature music from Great Britain, with favorites such as "Nimrod" from Elgar’s Enigma Variations. The program will also honor Memorial Day with Vaughan Williams’s powerful cantata, Dona Nobis Pacem.

VOCES8, joined by composer-in-residence, Taylor Scott Davis, and choirs from across the United States, collaborate with Vox Anima London in this unique choral offering featuring well-known and recently-composed repertoire, under the direction of Barnaby Smith.

The concert opens with VOCES8 performing alongside the visiting ensembles and culminates with VOCES8’s solo set of beloved repertoire and a return of all performing forces to the stage for a stunning finale.

Leigh Barrett is a beloved Boston-based actor, singer and director. Although she received her Bachelor's degree in Voice Performance, opera emphasis, from Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory in Ohio, she has found her home in musical theatre. 

Her very first stage was her parent's living room and every guest got treated to a show. There were costume changes, guest stars (her little sister Sue),  a jump rope microphone, and complicated choreography (the very advanced step, touch, and turn around).

From there she joined her church and high school choirs. And although she didn't really know what a "career" in music or acting was, she followed her best friend to Ohio to major in Music Education. Scared off by a middle school choir and shop class (don't ask), she switched her major to Voice Performance (because that’s not scary!). After graduation, she was cast in Little Shop of Horrors and she knew she had found her place.

The Ohio State Chorale and the Men’s Glee Club present a joint concert at Worthington United Methodist Church, 600 High Street, Worthington OH 43085. MGC will feature two love songs: Imagine Me and You (as recorded by The Turtles) and Take a Chance (as recorded by Abba). Chorale will sing Laudate Dominum by Hungarian composer Levente Gyongyosi and If Music be the Food of Love by Stephen Paulus.
