Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) soloists on the International Artist Diploma course perform under the batons of RNCM student conductors with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. This afternoon will no doubt be a defining experience at the start of their already illustrious careers.

Founded in 1999 by renowned pianist Barry Douglas, the Camerata Ireland chamber orchestra brings together exceptional musicians of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, as well as Irish musicians living abroad. Hear a vital collection of Irish airs and dances, with the famously versatile Eimear McGeown joining on Irish flute and whistle; a timeless Beethoven piano concerto featuring Douglas; and beloved Mozart arias featuring soprano Celine Byrne.

What better way to mark St Patrick’s Day than a concert packed with Irish traditional music through the ages? The Orchestra’s Section Leader flute Cormac Henry and Section Leader harp Elizabeth McNulty celebrate their Celtic roots, performing songs, jigs, reels and slow airs from various collectors of traditional Irish music.
