Huw Wiggin has performed in venues all over the world, from the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing to those closer to home such as Wigmore Hall, Royal Festival Hall, St John’s Smith Square, or Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. Since winning first prize and gold medal at the Royal Over-seas League Annual Music Competition, Huw has developed a career as a soloist and chamber musician. His debut disc ‘Reflections’ (with John Lenehan and Oliver Wass), reached no.2 in the UK Specialist Classical Chart. Huw is a member of the Ferio Saxophone Quartet, winners of the Royal Overseas League Ensemble Prize. As a professor of saxophone at the Royal Academy of Music in London he regularly gives masterclasses in the UK and abroad.

Les Violons du Roy has been a focal point of Québec City’s musical life since it was founded by Bernard Labadie in 1984. The ensemble takes its name from the celebrated court orchestra of the French kings. Under music director Jonathan Cohen, this orchestra soars to truly regal heights. Music that can provide stillness. It may sound contradictory, yet that is precisely what we want to do with our INKEER (CONTEMPLATION) concerts.

In a world that never stops and where we limp along from impulse to impulse, we all feel the need to stop every now and then. A concert is already an outstanding reflective moment but what if we enrich that experience further with mindfulness? On each occasion, we put forward an artist who, besides being an excellent performer, is also versed in meditation or yoga. The audience first takes part in a session before immersing yourself in the music.

Her pioneering approach to concerts includes a desire to see more dancing, cheering and clapping between movements, saying, “an instinctive reaction from the audience only prove[s] the joy of music”.
