The Tales of Hoffmann (Les Contes d'Hoffmann) is a haunting opera that dives into the stormy, occasionally uncanny, love life of poet Hoffmann. In a series of flashbacks (and perhaps a bit too much wine), Hoffmann recounts three romantic escapades, each with its own fantastical twist—and each disastrously interrupted by a shadowy villain determined to ruin his good time. The opera is a blend of romance, heartbreak, and just the right dose of the surreal, proving that in Hoffmann’s world, if something seems too good to be true, it probably involves an evil doppelgänger or a mechanical doll.

With its rich melodies and gripping narrative, the opera will sweep you away with its soaring arias and poignant melodies that bring to life the emotions and entangled relationships of a Sicilian village.

This performance is part of the Grand Teton Music Festival's ambitious annual opera tradition, featuring a full staging complete with props and stunning projections.

**Synopsis:**
"A prince and a bird catcher must complete a series of magical tests to rescue a princess and banish evil from the world." Experience Mozart’s strange and wonderful allegory on right and wrong, brought to life with exceptional musical and theatrical artistry.

**Pre-Concert Talk:**
Arrive early for a pre-concert talk at 5 PM with Dr. Michael Griffith, Director of Orchestral Activities at the University of Wyoming. The talk will take place in the Barbara Furrer Goodman Memorial Garden near Walk Festival Hall’s north entrance and is sponsored by the Goodman Family Foundation, in memory of Roy and Barbara Goodman.
