Saxophonist John Viavattine has been a fixture of the Rochester music scene for more than 30 years. For many of those years, Viavattine was the director of bands at Spencerport High School. He is a member of The Mambo Kings and has played with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Chuck and Gap Mangione, and accompanied such singers as Aretha Franklin, Vic Damone, and Lou Rawls.Richard DeLaney, of The Mambo Kings, and several of Viavattine’s former students will join him on stage.Friday, September

From the music of Spain, Cuba, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay to the burning Afro-Cuban jazz of Tito Puente, to the rhythmic playfulness of jazz great Dave Brubeck and the pop strains of The Beatles, Mambo Kings and soprano Camille Zamora will be your guides on a Latin jazz tour of the Pan-American experience.
