Experience the grandeur of Baroque music like never before at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's "Baroque Organ" concert. This exceptional event, set to take place on Sunday and Tuesday, December 8 & 10, 2024, at the prestigious Alice Tully Hall, promises an unforgettable auditory journey through the works of eight Baroque masters.

For two hours, including an intermission, attendees will be treated to a rare opportunity to hear Alice Tully Hall’s magnificent 4,200-pipe organ. This lush and powerful instrument will serve as the centerpiece in a program meticulously curated to showcase its grandiosity. Nine extraordinary artists, including renowned organist Paolo Bordignon, will perform a selection of transcriptions by Bach himself, organ solos featuring a French holiday carol, and more, bringing the rich textures and intricate harmonies of the Baroque era to life.

The program features a diverse range of compositions, from Alessandro Scarlatti's "Three Arias for Trumpet, Oboe, and Organ" to George Frideric Handel's "Concerto in A major for Organ, HWV 307, Op. 7, No. 2". Each piece has been carefully selected to highlight the unique capabilities of the organ, as well as the virtuosity of the performers.

In addition to Bordignon, the concert will feature performances by violinists Benjamin Beilman and Alexander Sitkovetsky, violist Matthew Lipman, cellist Keith Robinson, double bassist Edgar Meyer, oboists James Austin Smith and Juri Vallentin, and trumpeter David Washburn. These acclaimed musicians, each with their own impressive career and contributions to the world of classical music, will come together to create an evening of unparalleled musical excellence.

**Fallen Angels: A Baroque Exploration of the Paranormal**

Join Ars Lyrica Houston for an enchanting evening of Baroque music that delves into the mystical and paranormal, titled "Fallen Angels." This captivating concert took place on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 7:30 PM in the exquisite Zilkha Hall at The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.

"Fallen Angels" showcased an otherworldly program that spanned the harrowing "Judgement of Solomon" by Giacomo Carissimi to the spirited masques from Henry Purcell’s "Fairy Queen." The performance featured a stellar lineup of five extraordinary singers accompanied by a colorful Baroque orchestra, complete with period strings and winds, setting the stage for a season devoted to the magical aspects of music.

The concert highlighted the talents of Nola Richardson and Eliza Masewicz, sopranos; Jay Carter, countertenor; Thomas O’Neill, tenor; and Enrico Lagasca, bass-baritone, marking an Ars Lyrica debut for some. The program included a rich selection of works, such as Carissimi's "Judicium Salomonis," Alessandro Scarlatti's "Cello Sonata in C minor," and excerpts from Purcell's "The Fairy Queen," among others. The performance ran for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, including an intermission, with all texts projected in English surtitles for the audience's understanding.

Audience members were treated to a night of sublime artistry, with the celestial voices of the singers and the elegant performance of the orchestra creating an entrancing experience. The concert was not only a showcase of musical excellence but also an exploration of themes like love, mystery, and the supernatural, as reflected in the Baroque era's rich tapestry of sounds and stories.

Uzbek pianist Behzod Abduraimov launched his career by winning the London International Piano Competition in 2009 at the age of 18 and has made a seamless transition from prodigy to celebrated career musician. He performs frequently in recital at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium, Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, among many others, as well as in chamber music performances and as soloist with leading orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, San Francisco Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, and Concertgebouworkest. The exciting program includes Schumann’s dramatic Kreisleriana and Rachmaninoff’s riveting Variations on a Theme of Corelli.

A native of South Korea, Kim has inspired a dedicated and passionate fan base by defying conventional wisdom and expanding on the traditional classical concert experience. Jeneba Kanneh-Mason is now a regular and much loved visitor to Perth Concert Hall and is developing into one of the most exciting young musicians on the international circuit. She has devised an utterly fantastic programme for us, featuring some of Chopin’s finest music at its core. Added to that is a selection of fabulous Russian music, while the programme opens with 2 of Scarlatti’s 550 sonatas, the touchstone of inventiveness in keyboard music.

The Portland Baroque Orchestra's 2024-25 season culminates with a profound exploration of light, love, and rebirth through a selection of masterful compositions. The program features Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's "Stabat Mater," a poignant work that juxtaposes tender, passionate text with lively rhythms and intricate trills. This final masterpiece by Pergolesi is performed by the acclaimed countertenor Reginald Mobley and soprano Anna Dennis, whose voices bring the emotional depth of the piece to life.

The concert also includes Antonio Vivaldi's "Summer" from "The Four Seasons," where the sounds of the cuckoo, dove, and goldfinch resonate under the blazing sun before the winds begin to stir. Johann Sebastian Bach's "Bekennen will ich seinen Namen," BWV 200, adds a layer of introspective beauty, while Alessandro Scarlatti's "Salve Regina in G Minor" pays homage to the Baroque era's rich musical heritage.

Under the artistic direction of Julian Perkins, who also performs on the harpsichord, and with the skilled violinist Adam LaMotte, the Portland Baroque Orchestra delivers a performance that promises to be both moving and uplifting. This concert not only honors the timeless works of these Baroque masters but also celebrates the enduring power of music to convey profound human emotions.
