The 2026 Summer in Sosnick festival once again kicks off with a fusion concert masterfully curated by the DSO's very own Jeremy Crosmer. Principal harpist Alyssa Katahara and Assistant Principal clarinetist Jack Walters join cellist Jeremy Crosmer for an enchanting evening blending classical and jazz. "Paradise Harmonies" honors the legacy of the historic Paradise Jazz Theatre, while featuring a heavenly trio of the most beautiful instruments to create a unique celestial resonance.

Celebrate 250 years of the American Spirit with this dynamic symphonic concert! Crowd favorite Samantha Rose Williams returns to sing Alan Fletcher’s “Three American Songs” and selections by Florence Price. The evening culminates in the vibrant and iconic sounds of Bernstein’s “Symphonic Dances” from West Side Story, a testament to the nation’s enduring artistic energy.

The JSO is committed to bringing new music into the world while honoring Classical Music’s tradition and past. In this concert, we’re featuring composers that have local relationships to Michigan: Clarice Assad, Jonathan Bruce Brown, Jeremy Crosmer, Jessie Montgomery, and Marcus Norris. Join Maestro Matthew Aubin and the JSO for this online premiere. Maestro Aubin and select musicians will be chatting with viewers during the presentation so bring your questions. This program will be available on the JSO website, Facebook, and YouTube pages.

DSO violinist Heidi Han always wanted to play “Death and the Maiden.” Schubert’s Quartet is a monumental piece reflecting emotions of fate. George Crumb’s Black Angels, composed for electric string quartet and subtitled “Thirteen Images from the Dark Land,” is similarly driven. Like Schubert’s momentous opus, Crumb hears powerful music in the irresistible pull of destiny.
