Experience the bold, expressive sound of the Poesis Quartet, Grand Prize winner at the 2023 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Formed in 2022 at Oberlin, the Quartet has swiftly risen to prominence, joining the Concert Artists Guild roster in 2024. Renowned for their cohesive artistry and adventurous programming, the group lives up to its name—poesis, from the Greek “to make”—with performances that forge new paths in chamber music. Dedicated to championing the voices of emerging and historically underrepresented composers, the Poesis Quartet brings this vibrant mission to life in their Caramoor residency.

ROCO kicks off its 19th season with SEISMIC, an opening concert of epic proportions, featuring the full 40-piece chamber orchestra in two ROCO-commissioned world premieres and an exhilarating tale of love, intrigue, and adventure! Anthony DiLorenzo’s ROCO world premiere commission Techtonal, featuring AI text-informed animation by composer and artist Cynthia Lee Wong and based on the acclaimed book TheTelling Image by renowned documentary filmmaker Lois Stark, compels the audience to rethink, re-hear and re-visualize how they view the world. Go on a flight of fancy in ROCO’s commission The Nightingale by Kevin Lau—recently released as our first-ever children’s book, and heard in a new scoring for full chamber orchestra—then head to the exotic lands of The Arabian Nights as Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic suite Scheherazade whisks audiences away through ravishing, vibrantly orchestrated scenes.

Joined together from Israel, Korea-Canada, Saint Lucia, and the United States, the Dior String Quartet is the Quartet-in-Residence at the Glenn Gould School, Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. We welcomed them to Tippet Rise in the summer of 2021 for several weeks in which they also participated from afar in the Banff Evolution: Quartet 2021 Residency during the pandemic. We are thrilled to finally host them for their official Tippet Rise concert debut where members Noa Sarid (violin), Tobias Elser (violin), Caleb Georges (viola), and Joanne Yesol Choi (cello) will present a diverse program featuring works by Kevin Lau, one of Canada’s most versatile and sought-after young composers; Soo Yeon Lyuh, known for demonstrating her compositions by recording videos of herself playing the haegeum, a two-stringed Korean bowed instrument; Dinuk Wijeratne, the Sri-Lankan-Canadian whose work The Disappearance of Lisa Gerardini is inspired by the real-life theft of Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa from the Louvre Museum in 1911; and the four movements of Maurice Ravel’s String Quartet in F Major, the composer and pianist’s only string quartet.

Named Curtis Institute of Music’s string quartet in residence for 2021–22, the Viano Quartet comes to Curtis with an impressive list of accomplishments and experience, including top prizes at the Banff International String Quartet Competition in 2019 and a residency at the Colburn School.
