Robert Glasper is the leader of a new sonic paradigm with a career that bridges musical and artistic genres. To date, he boasts 5 Grammy wins and 11 nominations across 11 categories, an Emmy Award for his song for Ava Duvernay’s critically hailed documentary “13th” with Common and Karriem Riggins, and a Peabody Award for his Composition of “Mr. Soul!”. His work and accolades bridge all aspects of the music business, from live touring to film scoring, composing and producing. The ongoing Black Radio series has since become Glasper’s calling card, upholding a place at the heart of a trailblazing community: from long-time sonic brothers Mos Def and Bilal, to legends including Ledisi, Lupe Fiasco, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu. Glasper is an artist at the heart of a moment – and a movement – to champion Black music, Black people, and the possibility of a better future.

An all-star lineup comes together for a musical celebration of Black freedom and excellence at the Hollywood Bowl. JUNETEENTH: A Global Celebration for Freedom features performances by Khalid, Earth, Wind & Fire, The Roots, Chaka Khan, Lucky Daye, Robert Glasper, Billy Porter, Mary Mary, Anthony Hamilton, Michelle Williams, Mickey Guyton, the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, and more. Plus, Thomas Wilkins and Derrick Hodge lead the Re-Collective Orchestra, marking the first-ever performance of an all-Black symphony orchestra in the Hollywood Bowl’s 100-year history. Musical direction for the night is provided by Adam Blackstone and Questlove. Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime musical celebration of Juneteenth.

Like Duke Ellington before him, Robert Glasper sees through the boundaries that are often laid down between genres and styles of music. An accomplished pianist respected by the jazz establishment, he’s also deeply in touch with the sounds that are shaping the 2020s, and is a go-to collaborator for everyone from Herbie Hancock to Kendrick Lamar. Together with an orchestra and some very special guests, he’ll erase the boundaries of time, too, bringing the music of Ellington into conversation with jazz’s present and its future.
