As a recording and touring artist, James has touched people with his warm baritone voice and distinctive style of guitar-playing for more than 50 years, while setting a precedent to which countless young musicians have aspired. Over the course of his celebrated songwriting and performing career, he has sold more than 100 million albums, earning gold, platinum, and multi-platinum awards since the release of his self-titled debut album in 1968. In 2015, he released Before This World, the first-ever #1 album of his illustrious career. James has won multiple GRAMMY Awards, has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll and the prestigious Songwriters Halls of Fame, and in February 2006, The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences selected him as its MUSICARES Person of the Year. He was also awarded the distinguished Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government and the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama in 2012. In November of 2015, James was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Nation's highest civilian honor, and in December of 2016, he received the Kennedy Center Honors, which are presented annually to individuals who have enriched American culture by distinguished achievement in the performing arts. In early 2020, he released Break Shot, a deeply personal and authentic audio-only memoir detailing his first 21 years. He also released his newest album, American Standard, his 19th studio album, which earned him the 2021 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album and gave him the honor of being the first artist to have a Billboard Top 10 album in each of the past six decades. Over the past few years, James has toured extensively in Europe, Canada, and the US, as well as recent stops in Tokyo, Manila, Australia, New Zealand, and Hawaii.

We commemorate the legacy of those who participated in the Normandy Invasion of World War II in this musical memorial honoring our nation’s heroes, those who made the ultimate sacrifice in securing liberty and justice for all.  A date that lives in memory, June 6 is observed every year in Normandy, France as the military action by the Allies that started the end of the brutal second world war.  Joining Choral Artists is the Lakewood Ranch Wind Ensemble in this concert, highlighting music of poignant compassion and reflection that Choral Artists will be presenting in Normandy, France as invited musical guests for the 80th anniversary of D-Day in June, 2024.

In the aftermath of this heinous act, a national conversation regarding bullying and homophobia took center stage. What is so terrifying about ‘the other’ that creates such division and hatred?  Craig Hella Johnson takes us on a musical journey that tells the story of Matt, a young man whose rather ordinary and typical life has left an extraordinary legacy for us to consider.

Inspired by current events of 1914, poet Vachel Lindsay wrote Abraham Lincoln Walks at Midnight – a moving depiction of the famous President troubled by the tragedies of the modern world.  Florence Price, African-American composer of the 20th Century, set this dramatic poem in her lifetime but the score was lost for almost 50 years.  Only recently discovered, Choral Artists will be presenting the Florida premiere of this exciting work for soloist, chorus and full orchestra.  Paired with the work will be the Lord Nelson Mass by Joseph Haydn, one of his most revered choral works.  The original title was Mass in a Time of Anguish and the pairing of these two works is a reflection of our own time – a time of anguish and uncertainty.

CR SINGS: James Taylor & Carole King

The James Taylor Quartet have set the standard for funky acid jazz and are largely responsible for the resurgence of the Hammond B3 in popular music. Their strong reputation as a live band remains to this day and their live sets focus on accessible rhythm-driven music, including plenty of improvised solos.
