Join the Cape Ann Symphony for a hauntingly memorable evening at the "Danse Macabre Concert," part of the Musicians Unleashed series. This special event took place on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 3:00 pm, hosted within the historic walls of the Gloucester UU Church. 

**A Halloween Spectacle Not to Be Missed**

This Halloween, the Cape Ann Symphony invited audiences to indulge in the eerie and the spectral, offering a unique concert experience that promised to be as thrilling as it was musically enriching. The performance featured the principal talents of the string section, affectionately dubbed the principal fiends for the night, delivering a program filled with ghostly music that captivated and spooked in equal measure.

The concert showcased the exceptional skills of:
- Scott Moore on violin
- Erica Pisaturo on violin
- Brandon White on viola
- Seth MacLeod on cello

**The Program**

The evening's repertoire was a carefully curated selection of works that spanned genres and eras, including:
- Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 8: Largo & Allegro Molto
- Saint-Saëns' Danse Macabre
- A Pop Medley featuring arrangements of Stevie Wonder's Superstition, Gnarls Barkley's Crazy, and Michael Jackson's Thriller
- Penderecki's Tanz
- Original compositions and arrangements by Scott Moore, including Spooky Waltz and traditional pieces Jenny on the Railroad and Go Dig My Grave
- Sibelius, Satie, Purcell, and Schubert pieces, all given a unique twist in arrangements that highlighted the theme of the night

The Cape Ann Symphony, a cornerstone of the regional orchestral scene, continues to thrive thanks to the generous support of its community. Attendees and supporters were encouraged to consider making a donation to help keep the legacy of the Symphony strong and growing. Directed by world-renowned guitarist and lutenist Richard Savino, El Mundo takes us on a treasure hunt through the archives of the Cathedral of Guatemala City, where classical 16th-century polyphony blended with secular indigenous dances to create a unique Hispanic style that still exists today. The archives contain numerous works by some of the most celebrated Latin American and Spanish composers of the 17th and 18th centuries, among them Juan Iribarren, Sebastián Durón, and Jose de Torres of Spain, as well as native-born Guatemalan composers Manuel José Quiroz and his nephew, Rafael Antonio Castellanos.
