The Dance Festival continues with a remarkable fusion of music and movement, led by Andreas Delfs. The evening begins with the lively overture to The Merry Wives of Windsor before piano virtuoso Jean-Yves Thibaudet takes on a thrilling world premiere by Aaron Jay Kernis (Voices of Today commission). Rochester City Ballet then brings Shakespeare’s greatest love story to life in Delfs’ own arrangement of Prokofiev’s Romeo & Juliet Suite. Passion, finesse, and drama take center stage!

It couldn't be more Christmassy! The anticipation of the upcoming holidays is audible in this concert full of Christmas tunes, sleigh rides, and Christmas wishes. The focus is on the music for Erich Wolfgang Korngold's fairytale ballet "The Snowman": Colombine and her admirer Pierrot attempt to escape from the clutches of Uncle Pantaloon – and succeed with the help of a snowman. The story is narrated. Finally, things get particularly festive with Otto Nicolai's Christmas Overture, featuring ever-changing variations of the chorale "Vom Himmel hoch."

Otto Nicolai’s The Merry Wives of Windsor (Die lustigen Weiber Von Windsor) is a German adaptation of Shakespeare’s beloved play, Falstaff, telling the story of notorious drunkard and womanizer Sir John Falstaff and his attempts to woo two married women. After receiving identical letters from Falstaff suggesting illicit affairs, Frau Fluth and Frau Reich decide to teach him a well-deserved lesson and prove their fidelity to their husbands. At the same time, the Reich’s youngest daughter must thwart her parent’s plans to marry her off.
