Join us for an unforgettable afternoon of classical music as the Oneota Valley Community Orchestra (OVCO) presents a captivating concert featuring the works of Larsen, Tchaikovsky, and Dvorak. This remarkable event is part of our Season 10 lineup and is scheduled for Sunday, April 28, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

The concert will open with "Deep Summer Music" by Libby Larsen, followed by the enchanting "Violin Concerto in D" by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, featuring the talented violinist Carina Yee. The program will conclude with Antonin Dvorak's "Symphony No. 8 in G," promising an afternoon filled with mesmerizing melodies and captivating compositions.

About the soloist: Carina Yee, originally from Decorah, is a violinist whose passion for music extends beyond the traditional repertoire. She is dedicated to expanding the canon of contemporary violin music through collaborations with living composers, premiering new works, and curating programs that blend classic masterpieces with the exploration of lesser-known compositions. In addition to her contributions to the contemporary music scene, Ms. Yee performs with the Canton Symphony Orchestra and the Akron Symphony Orchestra. She is currently furthering her studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music, under the tutelage of Jessica Lee and Phil Setzer. Ms. Yee holds a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor of Arts in Language, Media, and Communication from the University of Rochester.

This eclectic evening of art song, arias, and scenes will feature senior voice performance majors and pianist Yukiko Oba. Boston Conservatory at Berklee

Experience a serene musical journey performed by Your Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. The deep colors and calm breeze of harvest time create sensations of peace felt through Libby Larsen’s Deep Summer Music. A journey in itself Mahler’s Lieder eines Fahrenden Gesellen (Songs of a Wayfarer) will take the audience through the emotions of love and loss. The concert will close with Brahms’ Symphony No. 2. Composed lakeside in 1877, scenes of peace and tranquility are painted in this classical work. Guest Conductor Dean Buck will lead the YSO.
