Inspired by James Drake’s epic drawing of the same title, Can We Know the Sound of Forgiveness features The Crossing—“America’s most astonishing choir”—led by Donald Nally; text by bestselling author Benjamin Alire Sáenz; a performance by flutist Alejandro Escuer; and collaborators who include local military veterans with choreographer Harrison Guy, curator Leila Hamidi, and director of photography Adam Holender. Through a journey from violence and conflict to healing and forgiveness, this unique production, directed by Steve Jiménez, seeks to encourage hope in divisive times.

Can We Know the Sound of Forgiveness is a groundbreaking multidisciplinary performance that merges visual art, music, dance, movement, and spoken word to create an urgent new language for collective expression. Inspired by James Drake’s epic drawing of the same title, the immersive performance includes a score by renowned composer Gabriela Ortiz, text by award-winning author Benjamin Sáenz, and 24 singers from the Grammy-winning choir, The Crossing conducted by Donald Nally.

Black Butterfly is a dance theater production that uses performing arts to celebrate Houston's Black Pride week. Conceived and Directed by Harrison Guy, this performance will highlight dance, live music, and poetry featuring performers from the Black LGBTQ community. The piece aims to pay tribute to those who give us wings to fly.

Urban Souls presents Movement for Black Lives, highlighting black dancers and choreographers. Curated by Urban Souls Artistic Director Harrison Guy, Movement for Black Lives pays homage to Black artists with movement-based practices that celebrate and advance Black culture.

Colored Carnegie was inspired by Black Houston and conceived and directed by Harrison Guy as part of a commission by Performing Arts Houston that premiered in November 2021. The show was choreographed by Harrison Guy and Dancers from Urban Souls Dance Company with music by Dr. John Cornelius and set design by Edgar Guajardo.
