In our annual tradition of performing music from popular films and television, the CSO will perform selections from your favorite 80s movie soundtracks. This year, Yuriy Bekker and the CSO welcome a special co-host and guest artist to the concert: Jean Louisa Kelly actress, singer, and dancer on Broadway, television, and film. She is best known for roles in “Yes, Dear,” Uncle Buck and Mr. Holland’s Opus, and she recently appeared in Top Gun: Maverick. Enjoy a “totally tubular” trip down memory lane with music from “bodacious” films like Beetlejuice, Beverly Hills Cop, E.T., Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Rocky, and more!

Maestro Parnther leads the SBSO on some of his favorite film and television music, including some of the scores he has personally led on the session stages of Hollywood! As always, don't forget to bring your light sabers as we celebrate the music of Star Wars! Presented in partnership with Greater Miami Youth Symphony and The Children’s Trust. The combined orchestras, with musicians in costume, will present eerie classics and current movie favorites, backed by coordinated images on a gigantic screen.

Join us for a spooktacular experience with "Ghostbusters in Concert" presented by the Hawai'i Symphony Orchestra (HSO) on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the historic Hawaii Theatre, located at 1130 Bethel Street, Honolulu, HI. This unique event brings the classic 1984 film "Ghostbusters" to life like never before, featuring the Oscar-winning score performed live by the HSO. 

Dive into the world of the original paranormal investigation and elimination team as they capture their first ghost, Slimer, and face off against the god of destruction, Gozer the Gozerian. Starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Harold Ramis as the eccentric parapsychologists turned ghost-catchers, along with Sigourney Weaver, Rick Moranis, and Ernie Hudson, this film is a beloved classic that continues to entertain audiences of all ages. Rated PG, it's the perfect Halloween weekend outing for the whole family.

While the guest conductor for this event is yet to be announced, attendees can expect a thrilling performance that perfectly complements the film's iconic moments. For your safety and comfort, masks are encouraged, and contact points will be minimized throughout the venue.
