In the Elbphilharmonie’s Family Orchestra, children, parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts make music together – and each as best he or she can. The dedicated amateur musicians present the result of six months of hard work and rehearsals in a final concert.

Join the Piedmont Wind Symphony as we kick off our 35th Anniversary Season! We will premiere PWS musician Michael Robinson’s Fanfare 1989, celebrating our lasting impact on the Winston-Salem community. Enjoy the consortium premiere of James Syler’s provocative Birds of Paradise, featuring saxophonist and UNCSA Faculty Bobby Young, highlighting our long-standing partnership with the university.

Representing a variety of majors across campus, the University Band is joined by the Maryland Community Band for a concert of traditional and contemporary wind band music in a performance perfect for all ages. Repertoire will be announced closer to the concert.

Each of the 4 orchestras that comprise OYO will be performing, featuring works of Dvorak, Bizet, Rossini, John Williams, Meyer, Balmages, and Newbold. Program selections will highlight the work that each group has been doing in weeks of rehearsals this fall.

Featured performers will include the 2023 Studio String and String Orchestras Solo Competition 1st Place winners, Gus Kish and Hayun Jeong.

The SLO Youth Symphony has commissioned a new work by a local composer and Cal Poly music professor emeritus, Dr. Craig H. Russell to perform on November 13, 2023. “Postcards from the Central Coast” presents a series of brief musical sketches of individuals who have shaped our musical world on the Central Coast.

The Chamber Strings Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Robert Gillespie, is comprised of talented string players in grades 6-9. This ensemble benefits from a symbiotic relationship with The Ohio State University’s School of Music students and the middle school-age members.
