OES Conductor and Artistic Director Beau Benson kicks off our 40th Season with a performance of Pendleton-born Hollywood composer Chris Thomas's Malheur Symphony. Originally commissioned by the Bowerman family in the wake of the Malheur Refuge Standoff, Malheur Symphony is a tone poem depicting the avian wildlife over the course of a day on the Malheur Wildlife Refuge in southeastern Oregon. Also to be presented is Richard Strauss's tone poem Don Juan, based on poet Nikolaus Lenue's play about the fictional Spanish libertine.

Join us for a unique musical event as the Maryland Symphony Orchestra presents its Side-by-Side concert on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 7:00 PM. This one-of-a-kind concert features talented student musicians from across the region performing alongside our seasoned Maryland Symphony Orchestra musicians. This concert features those high school students who were selected to participate in the Side-by-Side program and those students who are participating in the Maryland Symphony Youth Strings (MSYS) program.

When Victor Frankenstein is pulled alive from the Arctic ice, his survival ignites a new cycle of transgression in 19th-century Paris, a city that treats death as entertainment and bodies as currency. As Victor attempts to rebuild himself through stolen flesh, he evolves from tragic survivor into willing predator, discovering not just how to cheat death—but how intoxicating it feels to do so.
