​To close out our amazing year of education and outreach, our Fort Worth Opera Hattie Mae Lesley Resident Artists present a one hour showcase of their favorite opera scenes. Showcasing more than just their dynamic vocal abilities, they also curate and produce this concert from conception to curtain call. Brought to you in association with Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth.

"The Tragedy of Carmen" is an adaptation of Georges Bizet's opera "Carmen," with a new libretto by Sheldon Harnick. The story follows the fiery and seductive Carmen, a cigarette factory worker in Seville, Spain, who captures the attention of soldier Don José, leading him down a destructive path of jealousy and violence. Their tumultuous relationship ultimately comes to a tragic end when Carmen chooses the glamorous toreador Escamillo over Don José, resulting in his murder of Carmen in a fit of despair. The opera explores themes of passion, betrayal, and obsession, set to the stirring melodies and rhythms of Bizet's iconic score.

Fort Worth Opera presents Wintersong: A Musical Holiday Celebration, a FREE community concert. The festive event will feature Christmas songs, timeless carols, holiday favorites, opera classics, and more performed by Fort Worth Opera's Lesley Resident and Studio Artists.

The Medium is a one-act opera by Gian Carlo Menotti set in the early 20th century. The story revolves around Madame Flora, a fraudulent medium who pretends to communicate with the dead, along with her two assistants, Monica and Toby. Madame Flora begins to experience a series of terrifying events during her seances, including physical contact from an apparition she cannot see. In a desperate attempt to prove her sanity, Madame Flora stages a fake seance with Toby disguised as the ghost of a murdered child. However, the real ghost of the child appears and Madame Flora is driven to the brink of insanity. Come see this chilling opera, performed in Spanish with English titles.

With libretto by founding Artistic Director of Lyric Opera OC, Diana Farrell, and music by Los Angeles based composer Brooke deRosa, this new opera is based on the haunting 1876 novella by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Lyric Opera OC makes its Carnegie Hall debut with this thrilling world premiere, one night only in NYC! Join us Friday, January 31st for the first ever performance of this captivating work for three voices and a 6 piece chamber orchestra before it appears anywhere else.
