This concert is entirely dedicated to unusual or bizarre instruments due to their sizes, shapes, or timbres. Whether it's the piccolo, a tiny flute with crystalline sounds that shines above the orchestra, the small clarinet with its piercing tone, the viola with its generous and robust personality, the English horn, a kind of deep-toned oboe with a particularly velvety and penetrating sound, or the monumental double bass with its cavernous timbre that suits both classical and jazz, all of these instruments engage in a dialogue with the piano, which is an orchestra in itself.
