After "The Firebird" (2019) and "Mahler, the Echo of a Life" (2022), Lucas van Woerkum now turns his attention to Holst's "The Planets," a grand galactic epic that reflects the composer's fascination with space and astrology. For this new film, in which the tempos are perfectly synchronized with the performance by the OPRL musicians, the filmmaker has crafted a story that revisits the profound questions of humanity. The photographer Lucia, portrayed by the great Emma Thompson, is contacted from the beyond by her late husband Bruce (actor Greg Wise, known for "The Crown"). The mystery of life after death is depicted in the sumptuous and meticulous aesthetic typical of the Dutch artist.
