You can simply go to a concert at the Philharmonie, spontaneously, during your lunch break – and with free admission: every Wednesday at 13:00 between September and June. The programme lasts 40 to 50 minutes: chamber music, piano works or a percussion duo – everything from Tchaikovsky to tango. Members of the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Karajan-Akademie regularly perform, as well as guests from the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester, the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Berlin music conservatories. As can be expected at a lunch concert, catering is available from 12 noon until shortly before the concert begins.

Join us for the Jackson Symphony Orchestra's 75th Diamond Celebration on April 26, 2025, at 7:30 PM, held at the prestigious Potter Center. This landmark event marks a significant milestone in the orchestra's history, celebrating 75 years of musical excellence and community engagement. The evening promises an unforgettable concert experience, featuring a unique collaboration with esteemed partners including the Jackson School of the Arts, Jackson Youth Symphony Orchestra, Ballet Chelsea, and Jackson Chorale.

The concert will showcase a collage of captivating music, nostalgic videos, and reflections on the orchestra's impactful history. Under the baton of special guests Stephen Osmond, Richard Sherman, Ralph Votapek, and Mitsuru Kubo, the program will span classics to contemporary pieces, highlighting the diversity and spirit of collaboration that defines the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.

The program schedule includes masterpieces such as Johann Strauss, Jr.'s "Fledermaus: Overture," César Franck's "Symphonic Variations," Edward Elgar's "Nimrod from Enigma Variations," and Piotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's "Finale: Allegro con fuoco from Symphony No.4," among others. The concert will have a runtime of approximately 2 hours.

Before the concert, attendees are invited to a free, interactive lecture at 6:30 PM, offering insights into the evening's program and the opportunity to engage with the music on a deeper level.

Following the concert, the celebration continues with an afterparty sponsored by Rehmann. This event offers a great opportunity to mingle with musicians, guest artists, composers, and fellow symphony fans. The afterparty will feature entry, hors d’oeuvres, and drinks, all included in the $20 ticket price.

Meet some of music’s boundary pushers and barrier breakers with a featured side-by-side performance with the next generation of musicians, the Lake Michigan Youth Orchestra. Relish a gem from female composer Fernande Decruck. The sounds of gospel, blues, and jazz meet the orchestral stage with Duke Ellington’s Black, Brown, and Beige, his musical illustration of African American history. Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue concludes the SMSO’s Mainstage season with the raucous and joyous energy of city life.

Ryan Center for the Musical Arts at Northwestern University.

Isaac Boone will showcase his exceptional skills through a diverse program that includes works by Georg Philipp Telemann, John Anthony Lennon, Fernande Decruck, Alex Mincek, and Steven Banks. Accompanied by Nathan Canfield on piano, the evening promises to be a memorable one, featuring pieces such as Telemann's Fantasia No. 7 in D Major, TWV 40:8, and Decruck's Sonata in C-sharp Minor, among others.

Featuring the SFCM woodwind, brass and percussion students, and conducted by Brad Hogarth, the concert will also include guest brass quintet Brass Over Bridges joining the ensemble in a premiere performance of Transfigurations. Originally written for brass quintet and orchestra by SFCM faculty Stefan Cwik, Cwik rearranged the work specifically for the SFCM Wind Ensemble. The performance of the piece will also include projections of artwork by Mexican artist Eduardo Rodriguez Calzado.

Join the JSO in downtown Jackson for a program featuring Ravel’s famous ballet Mother Goose. The JSO welcomes Iranian-American harpsichordist Mahan Esfahani for the American premiere of Fernande Decruck’s Les Trianons. Ballet Chelsea dancers join the JSO to dance through this tour of France.

The JSO teams up with the Jackson Youth Symphony Orchestra to present Mexican composer Arturo Marquez’s red-hot Congo del Fuego Nuevo. Decruck’s Heroic Poem is a work that the JSO recorded last season and features Michigan-native Leelanee Sterrett on French horn and Amy McCabe on trumpet from “The President’s Own” Marine Band. After our fiery first half, we close the concert with warm music from a cold place–Finnish composer Jean Sibelius’s famous 2nd Symphony!
