From street parades in the French Quarter to late night jams in the city’s famed clubs, this party transforms into an unforgettable Mardi Gras celebration with Byron Stripling, Sydney McSweeney and Bobby Floyd leading the parade with the San Diego Symphony Orchestra!

The toe-tapping, finger-snapping program shines the spotlight on the music of great early 20th century composers, including George Gershwin (Fascinating Rhythm), Irving Berlin (Strike Up The Band), and Scott Joplin (Maple Leaf Rag), that have the timeless melodies and rhythms that continue to lift our spirits today. Joined by the great vocalist Carmen Bradford, Byron creates an inspiring musical portrait of how these songs shaped the Great American Songbook.

Byron is joined on-stage by the incredible vocalist Crystal Monee Hall.

Celebrate George Gershwin’s 125th birthday with Byron! Featuring popular Gershwin favorites like "Someone To Watch Over Me," "Man I Love," "I’ve Got Rhythm," "Love Is Here To Stay" and "They Can’t Take That Away From Me." Byron is joined by the singing sensation Sydney McSweeney and highlights the orchestra with "Strike Up The Band" and "Rhapsody in Blue!"

The French Quarter comes to Fort Wayne! Conjuring the spirit and swagger of Louis Armstrong, trumpeter Byron Stripling leads the Mardi Gras Parade of music that made the Crescent City famous.

In celebration of Juneteenth and in collaboration with the Juneteenth Festival coordinated by B Marshall. Due to the construction in anticipation of the 2026 NFL Draft, the venue has changed from downtown to the east end of Pittsburgh in Mellon Park near Bakery Square. The stage for this concert has also changed and is very small – with max instrumentation around 21 players.  Because of these conditions, we have decided to program this concert as a big band program featuring the brass members from the PSO with additional sax players from the region. Byron Stripling will conduct, play, and sing along with returning vocalist Syndey McSweeney and a rhythm section featuring Hammond B3 organist Bobby Floyd and PSO bassist Jeffrey Grubbs.

Experience the evolution of American music, from spirituals and gospel tunes to the rhythms of ragtime and the heartfelt passion of the blues. PNC POPS Principal Conductor Byron Stripling leads the audience through the birth of jazz, the soulful grooves of R&B, and all the vibrant genres that define the American soundscape.
