Back after popular demand, Lyric Opera OC reprises their January 2023 production of Jake Heggie’s Two Remain for the inaugural statewide California Music Festival. Kicking off the festival’s calendar, this production will leave you with tears in your eyes and silence on your lips. Heggie crafts a visceral memoir based on the true story of two Holocaust survivors and their reflections, and the choices that haunt them, from their time in the Auschwitz Concentration Camp of WWII.

Family, Forgiveness, and Faith all converge when Sister Angelica receives an unexpected visit from her Aunt after years as a penitant nun and mother of a child out of wedlock. Puccini’s masterpiece, debuted at the Metropolitan Opera in 1918, still thrills audiences to rapture and sorrow over a hundred years later.

With libretto by founding Artistic Director of Lyric Opera OC, Diana Farrell, and music by Los Angeles based composer Brooke deRosa, this new opera is based on the haunting 1876 novella by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. Lyric Opera OC makes its Carnegie Hall debut with this thrilling world premiere, one night only in NYC! Join us Friday, January 31st for the first ever performance of this captivating work for three voices and a 6 piece chamber orchestra before it appears anywhere else.
