The radiant soprano Amanda Forsythe opened the COB season with Mozart’s exhilarating “Exsultate jubilate.” Also on the program was a beautiful but rarely heard Classical-era bassoon concerto by Jan Kozeluh, featuring Adrian Jojatu, as well as the intensely lyrical “Albinoni’s Adagio.”

They’re thrilling when played softly, too, and indeed the title of Giovanni Gabrieli’s piece means ‘Quiet and Loud Sonata’ because it was one of the first pieces to specify the level of volume with which the instruments should be played.
