Next season the Organist Iveta Apkalna and the Alinde Quartett have played in their philharmonic »Porträt«-Konzerten begeistert. Zum Abschluss präsentieren sich Organistin und Quartett nun zusammen. Quer durch die Musikgeschichte geht es dabei – bis hin zu a new Werk, das der mit dem »Hindemith-Preis« ausgezeichnete Regensburger SJ Hanke für Orgel und Streichquartett geschrieben hat.

The majesty and grandeur of brass instruments has been celebrated since the Renaissance. Not just for their power, either. They’re thrilling when played softly, too, and indeed the title of Giovanni Gabrieli’s piece means ‘Quiet and Loud Sonata’ because it was one of the first pieces to specify the level of volume with which the instruments should be played.
