pera Parallèle and the Transgender District present the 5th annual Expansive, a showcase of trans and nonbinary classical artists. This year's theme, REVOLUTION IS JUST THE BEGINNING, is in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Compton’s Cafeteria Riot—a pivotal moment in transgender history that helped shape San Francisco and movements for liberation around the world. This powerful and uplifting evening of music, spoken word, and projections features Sapphira Cristál, Katherine Goforth, and Nina Jones, with host Afrika America and pianist Keisuke Nakagoshi.

Auburn Symphony joins forces with Seattle Pro Musica for a concert of profound beauty and emotional depth. Mozart’s Requiem, left unfinished at the time of his death, is a work of timeless intensity and soaring choral grandeur. Osvaldo Golijov’s Oceana, inspired by Pablo Neruda’s poetry, transforms the orchestra and choir into a vast, shimmering seascape. Together, these works create a poignant and unforgettable experience—music that resonates long after the final note.

To kick off Transgender History Month in San Francisco, The Transgender District & Opera Parallèle present Expansive – A Showcase of Transgender and Non-Binary Classical Artists. In its second year, this public event is part of a new partnership between the two organizations designed to create more opportunities for transgender or gender-expansive performers. The Expansive Showcase serves as an open invitation from The Transgender District to join them in their place, an area of great cultural and historical significance, to celebrate the stories and artistry of the transgender community.
