Join the singers, dancers, instrumentalists, and directors of the GRAMMY-winning BEMF Chamber Opera Series for a special presentation of two masterworks by Telemann. Enjoy a rare staged performance of Telemann’s lovely serenata, Don Quichotte auf der Hochzeit des Comacho, which sees Don Quixote and his squire Sancho Panza stumble upon the wedding of wealthy sheep rancher Comacho to the beautiful Quiteria—but her childhood sweetheart Basilio is ready to disrupt the festivities even if it’s the last thing he ever does! Woven throughout the entertainment will be movements from Telemann’s delightful orchestral suite Burlesque de Don Quichotte, a work that uses strikingly evocative music to depict various episodes from the classic novel by Cervantes.

i bardi is a group of New York-based musicians dedicated to exploring music from the birth of the early modern era. The ensemble presents a concert of songs of love, jealousy, heartbreak, and victory from the Italian Renaissance. Dazzling madrigal diminutions by Bovicelli and Rognoni compliment arias by Mazzochi, Monteverdi, and Stefano Landi in this program designed to arouse the passions and soothe the soul.

Some of the most virtuosic and stunning music of the 17th century emerged from the practice of writing diminutions on Renaissance madrigals. The evocative madrigals, from masters like Palestrina, Cipriano de Rore, and Lassus, become greater than the sum of their parts when embellished by the likes of Rognoni and Bassano. Intermittently, we bring you songs and dances by Falconieri, Landi, and more, to cleanse the palate.

All the glory of Handel’s timeless Messiah, but make it chamber music. This chestnut gets the one-on-a-part treatment – and the nimbleness and luminosity that affords. Salastina loyalists will enjoy the return of last season’s most popular Happy Hour guest, the effervescent Belgian soprano Laurence Servaes, alongside the return of stunning mezzo-soprano Clara Osowski. Mulled wine reception to follow.

In honor of the Byrd Celebration, the Church’s regular Sunday morning worship on November 5 will include Byrd’s complete Mass for Five Voices and the All Saints propers as set by Byrd in the Gradualia I, 1605: Gaudeamus omnes in Domino; Timete Dominum; Venite ad me; Justorum animae; and Beati mundo corde.

As its name suggests, Byrd’s 1589 volume of songs varies widely in scoring, style, and mood. Byrd’s preface says that he is “desirous to delight thee with varietie, whereof (in my opinion) no Science is more plentifully adorned then Musicke,” and he offers the book as a musical compilation “to serve for all companies and voyces,” signing himself “The most affectionate freend to all that love or learne Musick.”

The Los Angeles Times heralded Derrick Skye's music as "something to savor...enormous fun to listen to”. In his sparkling new cantata, Skye surveys our troubled world and, setting his own original poetry, finds a humane and optimistic response. In dialogue, we present the first-ever Carnegie Hall performance of a luminous choral-orchestral work by Mozart's Viennese contemporary Marianna von Martines, alongside the 18-year-old Mozart's exuberant treatment of the same text. Rounding out the program: a toe-tapping triptych by Bartok, whom Skye has named as a source of inspiration.

The 2026/27 Visions & Visionaries season begins with musical depictions of the hunt, a favorite aristocratic pastime with potentially lethal consequences. Charpentier’s chamber opera Actéon tells the tale of a hunter whose brief vision of Diana proves fatal, while Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie relates the story of two lovers who, while fleeing a vengeful stepmother, enjoy a brief hunt in the forest. Both feature tenor Richard Pittsinger in his Ars Lyrica debut. Heinichen’s Concerto in F Major spotlights the horns and oboes, traditional instruments of the hunt.
