Our final event will take place on October 2nd at the historic Commissariat House in St. John’s. The venue’s intimate setting is the perfect match for an evening with Ryan McDonald, a countertenor known for blending operatic mastery with innovative artistic productions. Hailed by Opera Canada for his “luminous voice” and “natural musicality,” Ryan’s performances offer a combination of dynamic vocals and deeply emotive storytelling. His repertoire ranges from Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas to Britten’s Turn of The Screw.

In this hilarious and exhilarating story, the lives of six teenagers from a Canadian chamber choir are cut short in a freak accident aboard a rollercoaster. When they awake in limbo, a mechanical fortune teller invites each to tell a story to win a prize like no other – the chance to return to life. Ride The Cyclone

Theatre of Early Music in collaboration with the Schola Cantorum will be presenting Purcell's Dido and Aeneas

This project features the iconic ballerina Evelyn Hart and prize-winning dancer/choreographer Bill Coleman with additional choreography by David Earle. Musicians from Tafelmusik and Theatre of Early Music join soprano Sinead White in the title role of Dido, baritone Alexander Dobson as Aeneas, and Ryan McDonald as the Sorceress. The orchestra is led by Adrian Butterfield with Daniel Taylor conducting.
