MPAC celebrates the opening of our new season with a performance by Aaron Tveit, winner of the 2020 Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Moulin Rouge! Known for his dynamic performances, Tveit has appeared in other Broadway hits including Catch Me If You Can and Next to Normal, in films such as Les Misérables, and on TV in Gossip Girl, Grease: Live! and Schmigadoon!

Tveit earned a 74th Annual Tony Award leading the cast of the world premiere production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical. A stage adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s critically acclaimed film, the Grammy-nominated show premiered on Broadway in the summer of 2019. Tveit also received an Outer Critics Circle honor for his performance. He is next to be seen in the iconic Chess co-starring Lea Michelle and Nicholas Christopher, coming this fall.

Best known for his work in theatre, television, and film, Broadway star Aaron Tveit won a Tony Award for his performance as Christian in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. He is currently starring as the titular role in Sweeney Todd. Tveit originated the roles of Frank Abagnale in Catch Me If You Can and Gabe in Next to Normal (Helen Hayes Award, Lucille Lortel nomination, The Actors Equity Clarence Derwent Award) as well as playing Fiyero in Wicked and Link in Hairspray. Other stage credits include: Assassins (West End), Rent (Hollywood Bowl), Company  (Barrington Stage).

Tony award-winning Aaron Tveit makes a Soraya debut, bringing his powerhouse vocals and matinee idol charisma. In addition to a searing performance in the original Broadway cast of Moulin Rouge, Tveit is a regular in film and television (Grease Live!, Schmigadoon!, Les Miserables). Tveit joins Pacific Jazz Orchestra, 40 of the finest musicians led by Hollywood veteran Chris Walden, whose new ensemble is the latest addition to the Los Angeles musical landscape.
