- **Vivianne Bélanger, Flute:** Vivianne joined the Fort Wayne Philharmonic as the second flute in 2012. Immerse yourself in an unforgettable evening of music at the Walt Disney Concert Hall with the "Gershwin & Strauss" concert, featuring the Los Angeles Philharmonic under the baton of Teddy Abrams. This spectacular event takes place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 8:00 PM, with additional performances on Saturday, May 24, at 8:00 PM, and a matinee on Sunday, May 25, at 2:00 PM.

The concert will showcase the extraordinary talents of pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, who will dazzle the audience with his interpretation of Gershwin's joyful Concerto in F. Thibaudet's relationship with this piece began at the tender age of 14, and over four decades, his performances have deepened in love and jazz-infused interpretations, promising a performance that exudes utter joy and leaves everyone with a smile.

The program also features Strauss' epic "Also sprach Zarathustra, Op. 30," a symphonic poem inspired by Nietzsche and made famous by its use in Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Beyond the iconic sunrise theme, the piece is a marvelous exploration of nature, science, and the unseen world, led masterfully by Teddy Abrams.

Adding to the weekend's performances, Caroline Shaw's "The Observatory" will be performed on Saturday and Sunday. Inspired by Shaw's experiences at Griffith Observatory, this piece reflects on the shape of Los Angeles and the night sky, promising a unique and inspiring addition to the concert series.

This event is not only a celebration of music but also an opportunity to experience the joy and depth of Gershwin's and Strauss' compositions, brought to life by the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the exceptional soloists. The John Adams’ Doctor Atomic Symphony (2007) may not be familiar to some, but the story is that of the movie Oppenheimer. That is, the story of U.S. physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, the “father of the atomic bomb,” and the moral struggle and moral injury of decisions made regarding its use. The opera boasts one of the most beautiful arias by a contemporary composer. For the symphony, that aria becomes a trumpet solo that’s absolutely gorgeous and heartbreaking. The end of Doctor Atomic is another one of those moments in music that gives us hope.
