The evening will also feature Jörg Widmann's "Funf Bruchstucke Five Fragments for Clarinet and Piano," Joseph Horovitz's "Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano," and Gioachino Rossini's "Introduction, Theme, and Variations for Clarinet and Piano."

Sebastian Manz, celebrated for his beautiful intonation and technical prowess, and Danae Dörken, known for her breathtaking technique and musical depth, promise to deliver performances that will resonate long after the final note. Music transcends today's actual boundaries, echoes the natural, musical boundaries of yesteryear, and above all shows how much music is the connecting factor between different cultural regions. Casco Phil takes you on a journey that began hundreds of years ago and introduces you to folk music from Hungary, stirring Klezmer from Romania, festive French music at the Court of Louis XIV, and much more. You will hear beautiful music from all corners of Europe as we take you on a complete 'tour musicale', from Western Europe to Central Europe and Northern Europe, and then via Eastern Europe to Southern Europe. The program takes a journey through Europe, taking as its starting point the current members of the European Union. At the same time we also take a journey in time. Music from the 16th century is discussed (by the Mechelen Philippus De Monte), but also baroque music, music from classicism and romanticism, a significant portion of folk music arranged for orchestra, and of course also a touch of accessible modern music. In this way, cultural regions are musically highlighted through the different epochs that have molded Europe into what it is today.

Château Cleydael

The Eureka Symphony season begins with a musical journey across nine centuries. George Frideric Handel’s Water Music Suite #2, composed in 1717 for a royal jaunt on the Thames, is followed by Rainbow Body, by Christopher Theofanidis, which transports a melody by the 12th century mystic composer Hildegard of Bingen to the 21st century. The evening closes with Niels Gade’s Symphony No. 3 in A minor, Opus 14. Gade is recognized as a preeminent musician of the 19th century, during what is known as the Danish Golden Age.
