Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo is a classical ballet company established in 1985 by the Princess of Hanover in accordance with the wishes of her mother, Princess Grace, who wished to perpetuate the long tradition of dance in Monaco and its famous Ballets Russes. It is the official national company of the Principality of Monaco.  The appointment of Jean-Christophe Maillot in 1993 brought the company renewal and international renown thanks to his choreographies, acclaimed the world over

Experience a captivating reimagining of a timeless love story with the Boston Ballet's production of "Roméo et Juliette." This fresh take on the Shakespearean classic is set to enchant audiences from May 29 to June 8, 2025, offering a unique perspective through the eyes of the remorseful Friar Lawrence. Choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot, this version highlights the tragic tale with minimalistic sets that amplify the dancers' emotions, allowing the audience to deeply connect with the characters' experiences of pride, fear, excitement, and impulsiveness.

The contemporary choreography, praised for incorporating elements of cinematography, flows freely, enabling the dancers to fully embody the emotions of the characters. The performance is further elevated by the Boston Ballet Orchestra under Mischa Santora, featuring the full Sergei Prokofiev score, which has been refined to enhance balletic movement.

This production, which first premiered on December 23, 1996, with Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, has been brought to life thanks to a generous gift from the Stephens Naphtal Foundation. Performances will be held at the Citizens Opera House, with a schedule that includes evening shows at 7:30 pm and matinees at 1:30 pm, ensuring multiple opportunities to witness this breathtaking ballet.
