Get ready to experience the magic of the season with our “Christmas Concerto” featuring acclaimed mezzo-soprano Joanna Porackova. We prepared for you a program full of season delights, including the Concerto grosso Op. 6 No. 8 – Christmas Concerto by Arcangelo Corelli, excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, Il Tramonto (The Sunset) a rarely performed masterpiece written by Ottorino Respighi, and – to crown the evening – the Serenade No. 3 by Robert Fuchs, which will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression with its cunning use of folk melodies from Central Europe.

Tonight, Carlos Kalmar and the Grant Park Orchestra offer up one of Johannes Brahms' favorite composers with the Fuchs Symphony No. 2 alongside Brahms' cheeky Academic Festival Overture. Also, the Orchestra welcomes one of the most exciting young musicians to come onto the music scene in recent years. Composer and bass-player extraordinaire Xavier Foley joins the Grant Park Orchestra to play the Divertimento Concertante by the legendary Italian film composer Nino Rota.
