Join us for an unforgettable evening with the Virginia Symphony Orchestra as we present "West Side Story Symphonic Dances" on March 14, 2025, at 7:30 pm. Under the baton of Eric Jacobsen, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra's twelfth Music Director, the evening will celebrate two treasured works for orchestra inspired by great literature. The highlight of the program is Leonard Bernstein's "Symphonic Dances from West Side Story," a thrilling concerto for orchestra that adapts the music from the 1957 musical, inspired by Shakespeare’s "Romeo & Juliet." The performance will also feature Richard Strauss's fantastical tone poem "Don Quixote," with solo cello by Michael Daniels, portraying the title character's imaginative adventures. Maurice Ravel's "La Valse" will complete this enchanting program.

The Hurrah Players, Virginia’s Leading Family Theatre Company, will kick off the program with a short presentation of the story of Don Quixote, adding a theatrical element to the evening.
