**About the Show:**
"Once Upon a Mattress" is a delightful musical comedy that offers a fun twist on the classic tale of "The Princess and the Pea." Originally produced on Broadway in 1960, this revival promises to be a joyous experience for the entire family. 

**Synopsis:**
In a far-off kingdom, Queen Aggravain has decreed that no couples can marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, finds a suitable bride. Princesses from across the land attempt to win the prince's hand, but none can pass the Queen's impossible tests. That is, until the shy swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, arrives. Will she be able to pass the Sensitivity Test, marry Prince Dauntless, and help Lady Larken and Sir Harry reach the altar? 

Carried by a wave of wonderful songs that are by turns hilarious, raucous, romantic, and melodic, "Once Upon a Mattress" provides side-splitting shenanigans and heartwarming moments. After all, a princess is a delicate thing.

Musical theater legend Sutton Foster (The Music Man) returns to the City Center stage as Princess Winnifred the Woebegone alongside Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) as Prince Dauntless in this beloved musical fairytale. Led by Tony-nominated director and Encores! Artistic Director Lear deBessonet (Into the Woods, Lionel Bart’s Oliver!) and with a new concert adaptation by Amy Sherman-Palladino (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Once Upon a Mattress sets an unapologetic free spirit loose in a repressed kingdom, reveling in Winnifred’s ability to charm and transform with willpower, honesty, and a little bit of help from her friends.

In order to keep him unmarried, the Queen has decreed that only the princess who can pass her impossible test may marry the Prince. After rejecting princess after princess, the Queen has met her match: the brash and charming Winnifred the Woebegone. This hilariously irreverent comedy updates the classic fairytale “The Princess and the Pea” and features some of musical theater’s most beloved melodies like “Shy” and “In a Little While.”
