The Fantasticks was originally created in 1960 with music by Harvey Schmidt with book and lyrics by Tom Jones. It tells an allegorical story, loosely based on the 1894 play The Romancers (Les Romanesques), concerning two neighboring parents who trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud. The original production closed in 2002. In 2022, the revival was an LGBTQIA+ focused rewrite featuring two young gay men, Matt and Lewis, at the center of the story, instead of a young man and woman (the original characters were Matt and Luisa). It remains the longest running musical production worldwide.

This collection of festive songs will really get people in the holiday spirit, especially with our talented group of resident artists lending their gorgeous voices to beloved holiday classics. The acappella songs will only require a relatively quiet space or an existing sound system with a microphone… no piano or other setup is necessary.

I Am a Dreamer Who no Longer Dreams is the first production of our season exploring intimate portraits of hopes and dreams. This poignant and topical work navigates both compassion and the dark side of humanity through the intersecting lives of two immigrants. The story chronicles the complicated parallels and experiences of Rosa, an undocumented immigrant from Mexico; and her court appointed attorney, Singa, herself an immigrant from Indonesia with a green card. As their voices blend and connect, we all experience the oneness that is the human condition, the storytelling and song of our collective inner child. With music composed by Jorge Sosa and a libretto by Cerise Lim Jacobs, the opera will be performed in English.
