On this season-finale concert featuring music by three great Czech composers, John Storgårds and Milena Pajaro-van de Stadt kick things off with Martinů’s invigorating, folk-tune-infused Three Madrigals for Violin and Viola—a work that also draws inspiration from Beethoven and Renaissance music. William Hagen, Clive Greensmith, and Anthony Manzo play the delightful Trio in G Major for Violin, Cello, and Double Bass by 18th-century Classical composer Josef Mysliveček, who was a close friend of Mozart’s, and, to bring the program—and the season—to a powerful close, pianist Juho Pohjonen joins forces with the Dover Quartet for one of the most beloved standouts of the chamber music repertoire: Dvořák’s rousing Piano Quintet, Op. 81.

The program features a selection of symphonies by Mozart's mentors alongside his own compositions, including the Symphony in F Major by Myslivecek, the Symphony in G Major by Hasse, and Mozart's own Piano Concerto No. 13 in C Major, K.415, and Symphony No. 31 in D Major, "Paris," K.297.

The talented Imogen Cooper graces the stage, returning to Music of the Baroque to perform Mozart's playful and virtuosic Piano Concerto No. 13, showcasing the intricate dialogues and delightful melodies that characterize Mozart's work. We can rightly boast that our concertmistress Ludmila Pavlová is not only a capable leader of our orchestra, but also a brilliant soloist. She will present her art in one of the most popular violin concertos of all time. The concert will also feature a delightful and playful divertimento by Mozart and Michael Haydn, the younger brother of the famous Joseph Haydn. The evening opens with one of the symphonies by Josef Mysliveček, who became famous in his time, especially in Italy, and Mozart himself did not hesitate to call him his role model.
