This concert features Fanny Mendelssohn’s reclaimed ‘Easter Sonata’. Previously lost for over 150 years, and then misattributed to her brother Felix upon its discovery, Fanny was not credited for the Easter Sonata until 2010, nearly 200 years after its composition.

Join us for an enchanting afternoon of vocal music as Megan Fleischmann, a talented soprano from the Northwestern Bienen School of Music, presents her Master of Music recital. This special performance will take place on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 12:00pm CDT in the Mary B. Galvin Recital Hall, a venue renowned for its stunning acoustics and breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline.

Under the guidance of her instructor, Karen Brunssen, Megan will showcase her vocal prowess through a diverse repertoire. Accompanied by Jason Carlson on piano, the program will feature a selection of pieces that span various styles and emotions. Highlights include "Glamorous Life" from Stephen Sondheim's *A Little Night Music*, selections from Liza Lehmann's *The Daisy-Chain*, and pieces from Ricky Ian Gordon's *A Horse with Wings*. The recital will also feature "Stars and Moon" from Jason Robert Brown's *Songs for a New World*, Benjamin Britten's *On This Island, Op. 11*, and selected songs by Florence Price.
