“The Final Frontier” propels our American Adventures season beyond earthly borders, charting a course through music inspired by the boundless pull of the stars. The journey ignites with Strauss’ iconic opening of Also Sprach Zarathustra,” instantly recognizable from the infamous opening of 2001: A Space Odyssey, before soaring into John Williams’ cinematic worlds, from the wonder of E.T. and Star Wars to the triumphant theme from Superman. James Horner’s Apollo 13 selections and Holst’s relentless “Mars” conjure both the peril and majesty of space exploration. Broadway anthems like “The Impossible Dream” and “Bring Him Home” will be brought to life by vocalist Devin DeSantis, alongside nostalgic favorites from Star Trek, The Flintstones, and The Jetsons, rounding out an evening that blends spectacle, adventure, and heartfelt aspiration—reminding us that the spirit of exploration lives as much within us as it does among the stars.

Caramoor is thrilled to welcome back the Grammy-winning male vocal ensemble Chanticleer, known globally as “an orchestra of voices.”  In Music of a silent world, Chanticleer sings the songs of the natural world and gives a voice to the otherwise voiceless rocks and stones and trees and rivers that share our planet with us. The program centers around a new arrangement of Majel Connery’s The Rivers are our Brothers, and alsoincludes music by Heinrich Isaac, Joni Mitchell, Max Reger,  Stephen Sondheim, Kurt Weill, and Ayanna Woods.

Join us for an unforgettable evening with the HapaSymphony: Beyond Hapa event on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 7:30 PM to 9:45 PM at the iconic Hawaii Theatre. This special night marks the launch of the 23/24 HapaSymphony Series, celebrating love, inclusion, and the art of DRAG. 

Experience a spectacular lineup of Hawai’i-born divas, including the mesmerizing songstress Lea Almanza, the jazzy Starr Kalahiki, the incomparable pianist Lady Laritza La Bouche, and the legendary Brandy Lee. They will be performing a diverse range of music from operatic favorites to traditional mele and the stirring notes of Rachmaninoff’s second piano concerto. 

The evening will be hosted by the renowned Hawai’i performer Cocoa Chandelier, with a special appearance by the Gay Men’s Chorus of Honolulu. Under the baton of conductor Dane Lam, the program will feature an array of compositions including Verdi’s "Libiama ne’ lift calici" from La Traviata, Edith Piaf’s "La Vie en Rose", Rachmaninoff's "Piano Concerto No. 2", and many more, promising an eclectic mix of classical and contemporary music.

For your safety and comfort, masks are encouraged throughout the event, and measures are in place to minimize contact points.
