Exploring the people, composers, and literature silenced by Nazi Germany, Silenced Voices, features a world premiere commission by Victoria Bond, “Anne Frank’s Tree.” Through a musical meditation on Anne’s Tree as a symbol of hope, Bond connects audiences to the sapling of Anne’s tree that grows at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum.  2022 IVCI Silver Medalist, Julian Rhee, performs the stirring Mendelssohn Violin Concerto. Additional banned composers Schreker and Korngold will also be featured.

Cutting Edge Concerts begins its 27th season with works by Victoria Bond, Jeffrey Mumford, Missy Mazzoli, Ileana Perez Velazquez, Mina Arissian, and Nina Barzegar performed by violinist Miranda Cuckson along with musicians from the Cleveland Orchestra, violist Eliesha Nelson, and cellist Brian Thornton. Highlights: World Premiere of Mina Arissian’s cello sonata and Regional Premieres by Ileana Perez Velasquez and Jeffrey Mumford.

America/Beautiful is a project by pianist and arts advocate Min Kwon, in which she has commissioned a diverse group of more than 70 of today’s leading American composers to each compose a variation on “America the Beautiful.”

Kwon's hope is to paint a sonic picture of her adopted country in all of its sprawling complexity, and ultimately try to find the beauty at the core of the American experiment and its credo of e pluribus unum (out of many, one).

The Wagner Society of New York will present a Lohengrin Seminar, highlighting a Wagner opera being staged by the Metropolitan Opera, and available both live and livestream. The Seminar will feature Wagner specialists Katherine Syer and Jeffrey Swann. Victoria Bond, moderator, will interview several Met singers who are performing in Lohengrin and several Met Orchestra members.
