Reflections on a local Christmas tradition. The ASO Christmas concert is the Symphony’s longest-running tradition, and one of Acadiana’s most cherished holiday celebrations. "The Christmas Concert”, as it has come to be known to our musicians and the community alike, is noted for combining traditional orchestral selections with popular holiday tunes, and featuring revered local guest artists and youth musicians. This year’s concert will bring together more than 100 musicians on stage, including beloved Lafayette rockstar, Marc Broussard, to perform your favorite sounds of the season. Together, we'll joyfully carry on this tradition for its 25th year.

Marc Broussard’s Louisiana roots run strong and deep. He’s the son of Ted Broussard, a Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist and former member of The Boogie Kings. His father nurtured the son’s talent from childhood, and the vibrant Lafayette, Louisiana music scene gave him plenty of opportunities to hone his craft. Today, the singer/songwriter is known as an artist with a unique gift of channeling the spirits of classic R & B, rock, and soul into a contemporary sound that he takes on tour to venues throughout the United States and Europe.

MARC BROUSSARD is an artist with a unique gift of channeling the spirits of classic R&B, rock, and soul into contemporary terms. His father, Louisiana Hall of Fame guitarist Ted Broussard of “The Boogie Kings” nurtured his musical gifts at an early age, and the vibrant Lafayette, Louisiana music scene gave Broussard the opportunity to practice his craft consistently from childhood through early adulthood. After releasing a successful independent EP at age 20, Marc signed a record deal with Island Records and made his major-label debut with Carencro. The album featured the hit “Home,” which gained large success on radio and catapulted him into the national spotlight. Over the next 10 years, Broussard released multiple albums with major labels, but has recently returned to his independent roots with several acclaimed original and cover albums via his SOS Foundation (Save our Soul).

Marc Broussard’s incomparable style—an infectious mix of soul, rock, blues, R&B, and funk-pop channeled into contemporary terms and coupled with his powerful vocals—has garnered worldwide praise from critics and fans alike. In 2024, Broussard is celebrating twenty years since the release of his major label debut, Carencro, with an anniversary tour, playing the album front to back and featuring some fan-favorite cover songs from his S.O.S. series along the way!
