In its 11th season, Seraph Brass was founded by trumpet soloist Mary Elizabeth Bowden with a mission to showcase the excellence of women brass players and highlight musicians from marginalized groups, both in personnel and in programming. Klezmer in Concert

From ecstatic dance to yearning melancholy to exuberant joie de vivre: Klezmer music, an instrumental festival music, originates in the "shtetls" of the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe and captivates with its immense emotional range. Originally played to accompany Jewish festivals, klezmer will be performed in this evening concert by solo clarinetist Filip Brezovšek and the Salzburg Philharmonic Orchestra in a concert setting.

Showcasing the excellence of female brass players and musicians from marginalized groups, Seraph Brass celebrates its tenth anniversary in Miami. Seraph Brass performs a diverse body of repertoire, ranging from original transcriptions to newly commissioned works and core classics. The program features works by women (Rene Orth, Reena Esmail, Catherine McMichael), American (Anthony DiLorenzo, Kevin Day, Jeff Scott, Kevin McKee), and European (Edvard Grieg, Giuseppe Verdi, Liszt, Franz Dinicu) composers.

Mayuko Kamio had made her concerto debut in Tokyo at the age of ten under the baton of Charles Dutoit, in a concert broadcast on NHK television. Since then, she has appeared as soloist with the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich with Mstislav Rostropovich, NHK Symphony Orchestra under Vladimir Ashkenazy and the Israel Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta.
